Clayton: Win over the Lions was a perfect game for the Broncos

The Broncos had the perfect game against the Detroit Lions.

They dominated on both sides of the ball. They got off to the good offensive start that Vic Fangio has been talking about all season. There was balance with passing offense and the run. The defense was dominating.

Of course, this was done against a 1-11-1 Lions team that is one of the worst in the league. Still, it was a good win and it got the Broncos record to 7-6. At least they are still in the wild card race. That was needed.

What was really impressive was the running offense. The Broncos ran for 184 yards on 39 carries. Melvin Gordon looked great. He had 111 yards on 24 carries. Javonte Williams had 73 yards on 14 carries.

Teddy Bridgewater only had to throw 25 passes to get the 38 points. It was an easy game.

The big thing for Fangio is that they are still in the wildcard race.

“It’s definitely good,” Fangio said. “There is no denying that. I think it’s definitely good us – the team and the players. I think it’s good for the fans.”

Now, the Broncos have to get ready for what should be a tough game against the Cincinnati Bengals. That should be a great matchup with the Broncos secondary trying to contain Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. There are four games left and the Lions win was a good one.
