Clayton: The Broncos have a star in the making on the offensive side

Javonte Williams is becoming more of a running threat each week, which is great for the Broncos.

In their blowout win over the Cowboys, he was a big part of the team’s 190 rushing yards. Williams rushed for 111 yards on 17 carries. That’s an impressive 6.5 yard average.

For the season, Williams has 466 yards on 49 carries. That’s an impressive 4.9 yards a carry. That’s why George Paton traded up to get him.

Melvin Gordon is playing well, but you can see he’s a free agent after the season. That would leave the starting job to Williams.

George Paton loved the beast-like qualities running the football that Williams showcased in college. He’s powerful and smart.

Next Gen Stats pointed out an interesting stat from Sunday’s game. Williams had 101 yards on 12 carries running outside of the tackle.

The Broncos need a lot from their offense as they approach the bye week. They are getting tight end Noah Fant back on the field. Their big problem is along the offensive line, where they could be without three starters. For the past couple years, the Broncos haven’t had many breaks with injuries and the trend continues this season.

But they have a star in the making in Javonte Williams.
