Clayton: Fangio knows the pressure is mounting in Broncos Country

Even though fans want change, the Broncos will stand pat and not make any coaching changes.

Special teams have been bad this year, but Vic Fangio is standing by special teams coordinator Tom McMahon. Fans aren’t happy with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, but he’s staying too.

Asked about special teams, Fangio said no change.

“Both Tom McMahon and I have to do a better job with coaching,” Fangio said. “I have to do a better job coaching the special teams. We have to give it to our players and coach them better so that we don’t have these types of plays happen.”

During the bye week, the Broncos are trying to regroup. They want to see if they can stay together as a staff and salvage the rest of the season.

A losing season could cost all the coaches their jobs. That includes Fangio.

Fangio was asked if there was anything he can draw from the four-game losing streak so the team does go downhill after the bad loss to Philadelphia.

“That’s a philosophical thing – an abstract question,” Fangio said. “I mean, we just have to get back to work. Coaches (have to) get our guys ready to play. We just need to have some good things happen to us, which will come through better coaching and better playing.”

Clearly, Fangio knows the pressure is on.
