Plenty of doors opened for the Broncos at the end of last week and over the weekend.

First, all of the legal challenges to the sale of the Broncos have been cleared, so the team can go ahead and find a new owner. That’s a big development.

For general manager George Paton, if Dan Quinn is the leading contender to be the team’s next head coach, the Dallas Cowboys lost. So Paton can go ahead, offer him the job and hire him as the next head coach. Paton has a bunch of other teams interested in Quinn, so he shouldn’t wait too long.

The sale of the team should be fascinating. There are reportedly six groups interested. Certainly, the leader has to be Jeff Bezos, one of the richest businessmen in the country. It is inevitable that Bezos will buy an NFL team at some point.

What I find interesting is some of the groups. We found out Brittany Bowlen is part of one group. That shouldn’t be a surprise. She was hoping to keep the team.

I think it is fascinating that Peyton Manning is in one group and John Elway in a different one. I thought they would both join together. Manning came to Denver in free agency, in large part because of Elway. Now, they are competing for the franchise.

Forbes has the team valued at $3.75 billion, but this sale will go higher than that. This will be a fascinating month.
