Broncos won’t have Marvin Mims Jr. against the Raiders

The Denver Broncos won’t have special teams star and wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.

That was the biggest takeaway from Wednesday’s final injury report, as the Broncos are officially ruling Mims out with a concussion.

He will not take the field against the silver and black, along with star cornerback Pat Surtain II (which was already known) and tight end Nate Adkins.

Safety P.J. Locke is questionable to play, while safety Brandon Jones, cornerback Riley Moss and kicker Wil Lutz should be good to go. None of them have a designation for the game, with all being estimated as “full” participants because the Broncos held a walkthrough.

Jones (foot) and Moss (ankle) both popped up on Monday’s estimation, so there was some initial concern, but each key secondary piece progressed well the last 48 hours. Lutz had an illness on Tuesday but is apparently fine.

The Broncos missed Marvin Mims Jr. against the Texans, as Michael Bandy had a bad punt fumble in his place. He muffed one late in the second quarter that led to a Houston field goal. We’ll see if Bandy is once again elevated from the practice squad on Thursday — or if Denver goes in a different direction at returner.

Marvin Mims Jr. was concussed late against the Cowboys 10 days ago and is progressing, but not yet ready to suit up. The Broncos hope to get him back for a huge AFC West showdown against the Chiefs on Nov. 16.
