Broncos offensive play-calling will look different this week, national reports confirm
Both Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport say offensive play-calling will be "collaborative" between Sean Payton and Broncos OC Davis Webb

The Denver Broncos offensive play-calling will look different this week against the Los Angeles Chargers.
And Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan host Brandon Stokley was on it from the jump.
Stokley, a former Broncos wide receiver, reported on Wednesday night that head coach Sean Payton “was more involved last week calling plays and I’m hearing he’ll be more involved this week.”
On Thursday morning, the national media joined the party.
First, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported he’s confirmed “that, indeed, Payton will be calling the plays again.”
Top NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport both tweeted at exactly 10:00 a.m. MT what they’re hearing, which aligns with what Stokley first broke.
The Broncos are taking a more collaborative play-calling approach this week with HC Sean Payton having an increased role in the process and OC Davis Webb continuing with a significant game-planning and game-day role, per sources. #Broncos coach Sean Payton will be more heavily involved in offensive play-calling this week, sources told me and @MikeGarafolo.
The process will remain collaborative, with OC Davis Webb continuing to be a major voice on game day & during the week. But Payton will have say. pic.twitter.com/H7YBs1k4vt

Schefter and Rapoport say it will be “collaborative” between Payton and offensive coordinator Davis Webb, who’s called plays for the first time in his career through four games.
The Broncos are 2-2, but the offense has looked clunky and Denver’s needed second half comebacks against both the Jaguars and Rams to avoid an 0-4 start.
And the Broncos are averaging only 18.5 points per game, which is 27th in the NFL. Their 280.3 yards per game also rank 27th in the league.
Webb is slated to meet with the media on Thursday after practice and will be asked multiple questions about this change. Payton won’t talk with reporters again until Friday and it’ll be topic No. 1 in his press conference.
The Chargers don’t have a victory, so Denver wants to keep that trend going. And with Payton calling most (if not all) of the offensive plays fans are hoping for a spark from the Broncos.
It’s a big change to make after only four games of the Webb experiment, but in a Super Bowl window, it seems like everything is on the table.
As it should be.
