ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos are dealing with plenty of injuries, but when they took the field for practice Wednesday, nearly everyone about whom they had a significant concern was present and accounted for as they began on-field work in advance of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
Wide receivers Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin both were seen in the individual period of the session to open practice, while center Luke Wattenberg and running back J.K. Dobbins each returned and practiced for the first time since landing on injured reserve in the second half of the regular season.
Bryant and Franklin left Saturday’s Broncos win with a concussion and a hamstring injury, respectively. For Bryant, it was his second concussion in the past month; he missed the Christmas night game at Kansas City due to the concussion suffered late in the Week 16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The rookie had 32 yards on three catches Saturday as Bo Nix targeted him on three of the game’s first four plays.
Franklin was not targeted Saturday before leaving due to the hamstring injury.
BRONCOS STARTED THE CLOCK ON DOBBINS MONDAY
Denver opened the 21-day window on Dobbins’ potential return Monday. He hasn’t played since suffering a Lisfranc injury in Week 10 and undergoing subsequent surgery. Dobbins appeared to be moving well during the individual period.
Wattenberg has been on injured reserve since Christmas, landing there after suffering a shoulder injury against Jacksonville. Alex Forsyth has filled in for him since then until suffering an ankle injury late in last Saturday’s win over the Bills; Sam Mustipher handled the snaps late in regulation and in overtime.
Forsyth practiced Wednesday, as well.
