ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos having to play Sunday’s game without wide receiver Pat Bryant and left guard Ben Powers doesn’t come as any surprise.
But the possibility of being without right tackle Mike McGlinchey after he did not practice on Friday? That development was unexpected.
The eight-year veteran landed on Friday’s injury report with a shoulder injury, which kept him from practicing entirely. McGlinchey and Bryant were the only two Broncos players who did not take part in Friday’s practice..
Bryant was ruled out for Sunday’s game after missing all three days of practice this week. The injury first popped up last Thursday, leaving him limited for the final two days of practice leading into last Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Bryant finished second among Broncos wide receivers in yardage during the 24-17 win, but played fewer than 50 percent of the snaps for the first time since Week 4.
The injury to Bryant is “hard to describe,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said.
“It’s attached to the hamstring,” Payton said. “If this was a playoff game … he’d be able to go, and yet in order to get him back to full strength, we feel like we’ve done the right thing this week.”
BRONCOS WILL HAVE NATE ADKINS, D.J. JONES BACK
Tight end Nate Adkins and defensive lineman D.J. Jones each had full participation Friday and are good to go for Sunday’s game. Jones missed last week’s game due to an ankle injury; Adkins sat out five games due to a knee problem.
Left guard Ben Powers practiced on a limited basis for a third-consecutive day on Friday, but will not be activated for Sunday’s game.
“Not now, but he is getting there,” Payton said.
