ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Broncos edge rusher Jonah Elliss returned to the practice field Wednesday as the team began its on-field work for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Elliss missed the previous two weeks with a shoulder injury suffered in Denver’s Week 5 game at Philadelphia. He did not practice in either of the last two weeks.
Rookie Que Robinson played in place of Elliss during those two games, logging 53 defensive snaps, 5 total tackles, a half-sack and one tackle for a loss.
Elliss posted a pass-rush win rate of 13.3 percent in his work over the first five games, per data collected by Pro Football Focus. He notched 2 quarterback hurries, 2 quarterback hits, a sack and three tackles for losses in those games, working in a rotational role behind starters Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper.
BEYOND ELLISS’ RETURN FOR THE BRONCOS:
All other Broncos on the 53-player roster except for the suspended Dre Greenlaw were on the field for Wednesday’s practice.
The Broncos also wore their throwback helmets for the practice. They announced Monday that they would wear the 1977-inspired throwback uniforms for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Week 10 Thursday Night Football contest against the Las Vegas Raiders and the regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers.
From a visual perspective, Sunday’s game will closely resemble Super Bowl XII — the first of the Broncos’ eight Super Bowl appearances.
