Report: Broncos, 1st-round pick Bolles agree on 4-year deal

The Denver Broncos and first-round draft pick Garett Bolles have reportedly agreed to terms on the left tackle’s rookie contract.

According to 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis, the two sides reached an agreement on a four-year deal worth $11 million-plus with a signing bonus of more than $6 million.

The Broncos took Bolles, who turns 25 later this month, with the 20th-overall pick in this year’s draft, a spot Denver general manager John Elway felt most comfortable in shoring up its left tackle of the future.

“When we looked at his ability, and we look at our needs, we feel like he’ll be a good fit,” Elway said after Day 1 of the NFL Draft. “We still believe that he was the best guy on the board and the best guy for us. It was a good mix.”

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph echoed the same sentiment, saying, “He’s a tough guy. He’s obviously an athletic tackle. In our division, every team has got two rushers. Having a tackle that can block speed, that was important to us. He was that guy in the draft.”

Joseph added: “He’s a guy that’s ready to play.”

Bolles’ deal comes just a day after Denver reportedly wrapped two of its 2017 draft class, agreeing to four-year contracts with sixth-round running back De’Angelo Henderson and seventh-round quarterback Chad Kelley.

The Broncos signed fifth-round wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie earlier this week.

» Third-round receiver Carlos Henderson

» Third-round cornerback Brendan Langley

» Fifth-round tight end Jake Butt.
