Broncos reach four-year deal with Zach Allen, keep stellar D-lineman around

Zach Allen and the Broncos will stay together a while longer.

Saturday morning, the two sides agreed on a four-year contract extension worth up to $102 million that includes $69.5 million in guaranteed money. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report the deal.

Allen, a second-team All-Pro, is coming off a career year for the Broncos in which he notched 8 sacks and 40 quarterback hits. The latter not only led the NFL last year, but was the most for any interior defensive lineman since Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.

Keeping company with the likes of Donald, a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer who retired in 2024 after a 10-year career in which he was an eight-time first-team All-Pro, is part of why Allen merited a contract that places him in the top tier at his position. Indeed, the guarantee and average per-year figures are both the third-highest for any interior defensive lineman.

BRONCOS, ZACH ALLEN WERE HEADED INTO CONTRACT YEAR THIS SEASON

But this had been building for a while for Allen, who began emerging in the 2022 season with the Arizona Cardinals. He joined the Broncos in free agency the following offseason, following defensive coordinator Vance Joseph northeast from the desert.

In his first Broncos season, Allen finished 12th in the NFL in quarterback hits with 24, never failing to record at least one in every game. He has been a model of consistency for the team, helping the team build perhaps the best inside-out pass rush in the NFL.

And now, he’ll stick around for a while, with no more contract uncertainties headed into the regular season as his initial three-year deal with the team was set to expire.

The Broncos have now doled out $110.5 million in guaranteed money in the last six days, having taken care of Courtland Sutton’s contract extension earlier in the week.

As was the case last year, they seem to have a habit of getting these things done.
