Broncos place a linebacker on injured reserve — but it’s not Alex Singleton

Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton will miss Sunday’s game against Kansas City after undergoing surgery last Friday following his testicular-cancer diagnosis, but as he awaits the pathology report to determine further treatment and the length of his absence, hope remains that he won’t need to go on injured reserve and be out for at least the next four games.

But the Broncos did place an inside linebacker on injured reserve Tuesday: rookie Karene Reid. He will miss at least the next four games due to a hamstring injury he suffered last Thursday night.

Reid joins two other players at his position group on injured reserve: Garret Wallow (hamstring) and Drew Sanders (foot). Sanders suffered his injury on the second day of training camp, which was another frustrating setback for the 2023 third-round pick; he missed more than half of the 2024 season because of a torn Achilles tendon suffered during an offseason workout earlier that year.

The Broncos have two practice-squad linebackers available: Jordan Turner and Levelle Bailey. Bailey saw action in the regular-season opener against Tennessee; Turner played 19 snaps — 16 on special teams and 3 on defense — in Week 8 against Dallas.

OTHER BRONCOS ROSTER MOVES

Denver claimed offensive tackle Garon Christian from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad and waived wide receiver Michael Bandy, who was promoted to the 53-player roster last week in advance of the 10-7 win over Las Vegas. The Broncos elected to promote Bandy instead of using a second practice-squad elevation on him; teams are limited to three practice-squad elevations per player, per season.

The Broncos also released offensive tackle Marques Cox from the practice squad.

Denver currently has one vacancy available on the 53-player roster and two on the practice squad after its moves Tuesday.
