"That was a really important play for us on that last drive," Broncos QB Bo Nix said of his 25-yard scramble to help set up a winning field goal

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix only had three rushing attempts against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
A late one might have been the difference between a win and a loss.
With the Broncos and Texans tied at 15 in the final seconds, Nix took off for a huge 25-yard scramble that put Denver into field-goal range.
Wil Lutz nailed a kick at the buzzer and the Broncos left Houston with an 18-15 victory to move to 7-2 on the year. Nix’s run was critical, as it took Denver from its own 39-yard line to the Texans 36-yard line.
“It’s one you want to move the pocket, get a new launch point, and change the pace for those edge guys. We got out on the end, felt like everyone was running over there for the pass, and it just ended up being a good lane,” Bo Nix said postgame.
Nix eventually ended up running for another nine yards to get the Broncos even closer. Head coach Sean Payton called timeout and Lutz trotted out for the 34-yard field goal with three seconds left.
“Finally got to be able to use my legs there at the end,” Nix said. “They did a good job of closing lanes, rushing and keeping me in the pocket there for awhile. Finally that movement caused a little bit of a lane in the defense and then it was just all about getting all you could.”
On the day, Bo Nix finished with 36 rushing yards, including 34 of them in the final 44 seconds of a 60-minute football game.
“At that point we were in field-goal range, we just wanted to get closer. But that was a really important play for us on that last drive,” Nix said.
They were both important runs, but the 25-yard one will be on highlight shows across America. Bo Nix and the Broncos are the definition of clutch, and right now the fanbase is enjoying this wild ride.
