Bo Nix owns his turnovers after Broncos win, says he must be ‘smarter’

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix is likely going to have a great NFL career.

When it’s all said and done, his 2025 Week 1 performance against the Tennessee Titans probably won’t be one Nix remembers real fondly.

The Denver quarterback turned the ball over three times, two interceptions and a fumble. Luckily, the defense came up huge, and the Broncos moved to 1-0 with a sloppy 20-12 win.

To Nix’s credit, he took several questions about his mistakes after the game on Sunday night, and said all the right things.

“You don’t ever want to throw interceptions, but when you do, as tough as it is you’ve just got to move on and respond with positive plays after that,” Nix said.

Bo Nix did respond with a huge positive play late in the first half after two of his three turnovers. With the Broncos trailing 6-3, he found Courtland Sutton for a 22-yard touchdown to give his team a halftime lead.

Still, you can tell the two picks ate at Nix a bit, and he did a good job walking through exactly what happened.

“Both times I thought I had decent vision, just, you know, 50/50 that didn’t go our way. Probably shouldn’t have thrown both of them. You live and you learn, sometimes you can be a little too aggressive and I was too aggressive,” Nix said.

That’s good perspective from Bo Nix, as it’s a lot easier to swallow these types of mistakes in a victory. Head coach Sean Payton had his back, so hopefully this is a footnote on what turns out to be a great year.

“I just ultimately got to be smarter than that, and take care of the football, especially with our defense. As well as they’re going to play this year I can’t put them in bad spots,” Nix said.

The defense had six sacks and recovered two fumbles, the clear stars of the day for the Broncos.

But there will also be games where Bo Nix is the star, and for now, he’s taking accountability for an outing that wasn’t his sharpest.
