Alex Singleton isn’t happy but he won’t let you defecate on Broncos parade

DENVER — The Denver Broncos had a crummy day at the office on Sunday, featuring their all-world defense getting trounced to the tune of 34-20 by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was the most points the team has allowed all season long and it wasn’t just built on the Jaguars’ success. Mistakes like missed tackles, penalties, and even two turnovers by Bo Nix are what it took to upend the team’s 11-game win streak, blemishing them at home for the first time this fall.

But the Broncos are still winners of 12 games this season and control their destiny for the top seed in the entire AFC, even if there’s more pressure on the final two games. It’s been a strong season, despite the hiccup, and the prior games would tell you it’s still looking good for Denver. At least that’s what starting linebacker Alex Singleton believes.

“We just have to get out of our way. Guys know what we need to do, and we just got to do it,” the defnesive captian said. “Just got to play clean football. I think there are times when we can get off the field that we need to get off the field and just need to communicate and be together.”

“We missed a lot of tackles, stuff like that, just little tiny things that got us to work, he said. “We’re a 12-win team. I’m not gonna sit here and let you guys sh*t on our parade. We have two games to go to be the number one in the AFC.”

Singleton led the team with 13 tackles on Sunday. It was his third game back after missing a chunk of November recovering from an operation that helped his fight against testicular cancer.

For the Broncos, it’s their first loss since September, and only the second time this season the team has allowed their opponents to score 30 or more points in a contest.

“Why move on from this?” Singleton asked, keeping a similar theme to Sean Payton. “Do we want to (stumble,) no. Am I happy about today? Not at all. It’s embarrassing. We shouldn’t do that. We need to play better. We need to get off the field. We need to make the plays…  As a defense, we’re going to come together and watch this. We’re going to get better. We have to. But once again, like, it’s not September 10, where it’s like what are we going to do? We’ve won 12 games for a reason. We’re going to come together tomorrow. We’re going to go to Kansas City on Thursday.”

The Broncos play on Christmas against the Chiefs, a win then, and in their final contest of the year against the Chargers would crown them the best in the AFC. But Sunday’s loss means any hiccup keeps the Jags alive for the very valuable top seed.
