Coach Prime wasn't worried about what the future has in store for his sons after they both had a rough go in the NFL over the weekend

The Sanders family dominated the NFL storylines in the final week of the preseason, as Shedeur put up a lackluster performance in his final outing with the Browns while Shilo threw a punch in his game with the Buccaneers, a move that resulted in him being waived from the roster the following morning.

It seems that Shedeur will likely make the cut for the Browns’ 53-man roster this afternoon after they traded away Kenny Pickett and released Tyler Huntley in the last few days. As things stand, the only quarterbacks in the room are Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Sanders, with Deshaun Watson also on the team but on the injured reserve.

However, his performance on Saturday was abysmal after he was the talk of the league in Week 1 of the preseason after he lit up the Panthers. In 11 drop backs on Saturday, Sanders took five sacks for a loss of 41 yards and only completed three of his six passes for 14 yards.

A net of -27 yards isn’t what NFL coaches want to see. His footwork wasn’t great, he took a handful of bad sacks and missed some open receivers in the pattern. He wasn’t playing with the best players in the world next to him, but he didn’t look like a guy who’s ready to take an NFL field anytime soon.

For Shilo, there’s a shot he ends up on a practice squad somewhere, but his antics on Saturday night showed many NFL teams weren’t fond of him as a prospect. He let his emotions get the best of him, just as he did so many times in college, and it resulted in him getting ejected and cut.

After the tough weekend for the Sanders family, Coach Prime had a message for the family’s haters out in the world, and didn’t seem too concerned with what transpired with his sons over the weekend.

“I’m proud of my kids, all of them, and I prepared my kids for any and everything that could possibly happen in life and in sports. This part of fathering as part of parenting is part of having a relationship. So [Shilo] is mentally where he needs to be, physically where he needs to be. We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team, but if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next. So Shilo is a man of many talents…. he’s gonna be straight, all the Sanders are gonna be straight, with or without football. You better believe that,” Coach Prime said.

One thing’s for sure, Shilo would make for a great TV personality. He knows a lot about the game and has a good sense of humor. Life at the NFL level for Shedeur and Shilo hasn’t been as sweet as it was for their pops in the NFL, or even for them at Colorado. Nonetheless, Prime isn’t worried about what the future holds for his sons.
