The Stanley Cup. The Vince Lombardi. The Larry O’Brien. The Heisman.

These are some most notable trophies in North American sports, awarded to teams and individuals who put on the best performances to rise above and beyond the competition to be worthy of such an honor. The first three are all team awards for winning a championship, while the Heisman is an individual award given to the best player in college football every season.

The Heisman Trophy has been awarded 86 times since it was first introduced in 1935. Two of the 86 renditions of the trophy reside in Boulder, Colorado, thanks to Rashaan Salaam and Travis Hunter, two of the greatest players in the history of CU football.

The University of Colorado announced on Friday that it would start holding tours throughout the school’s football facilities for the rest of the summer, which culminates with an opportunity to have a photo-op with both Salaam and Hunter’s trophies. The tour also includes a look into the Indoor Practice Facility, Weight Room, Team meeting rooms, Champions Center rooftop and Thundershute field entrance. The entire loop will take about 45-60 minutes, with the price being set at $52.48, including fees.

Everyone was a witness to the remarkable season Hunter put together in 2024 as he edged out Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty for the top individual award in the country. Hunter won the Heisman not because he played on both sides of the ball, but because he was one of the best players nationwide at his respective position on both sides of the ball. On offense, he totaled 96 catches (fourth in the nation) for 1,258 yards (fifth in the nation) and 15 touchdowns (second in the nation), while scoring another touchdown on the ground after he made the Utah defense look silly on a broken trick play.

On defense, the two-way star had four interceptions, 11 pass deflections and 35 total tackles, a stat line that showed that opposing quarterbacks didn’t want to throw anywhere in his vicinity. Some quarterbacks still managed to make that mistake, including UCF’s KJ Jefferson, who threw the interception that ignited Hunter’s Heisman campaign.

For Salaam, he had arguably one of the greatest seasons by a running back in the history of college football back in 1994. He was the only back in the country to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards, as he finished with 2,055, led the country in rushing touchdowns (24) and was third in yards per carry (6.9). His remarkable season still stands as the 20th-most rushing yards in one campaign all-time, and he hit the 2,000-yard mark on one of the greatest carries in CU football history.

Both of these trophies represent some of the best times in the long history of CU football, and fans now have an opportunity to see both of them at once. The tours start on Wednesday the 25h, and are available weekly (excluding the week of July 4), Wednesday through Friday through the end of July.
