Coach Prime wasn’t kidding about a toilet on CU’s sideline

Deion Sanders took his big cancer scare in stride, even making public jokes about his new bathroom habits since getting surgery to remove his bladder.

The head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes shared his diagnosis just ahead of the start of fall camp late last month. He’s made a full recovery and has already beaten cancer this summer. But in the surgery, the doctors had to make a new bladder for him, which makes using the bathroom a challenge.

One of the jokes he cracked when talking about adjusting to his new life was about perhaps needing a toilet right on the crowded Folsom Field sideline — just in case. Well, that wasn’t a joke. The Buffs have put a toilet on the field, right next to the student section and it’s sponsored by Depends.

Last week, Sanders launched a campaign with Depends as he opens up about men’s health. One of the coolest athletes ever has basically taken the motto of saying alive for the people who care about you is cooler than acting tough. And of course, ever the marketer, he’s somehow found a lucrative opportunity from his unlucky health scare.
