Aaron Gordon has a chance to play in Game 7, says his head coach

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has a chance to play in Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to his interim head coach David Adelman.

Adelman met with the media on Saturday before the team flies out for the winner-take-all showdown, and gave a relatively positive update on Gordon’s hamstring injury.

“Yes,” Adelman responded when asked if Aaron Gordon has a shot to play. “Just went through the walk-through. Game-time decision, obviously. But he fully was part of it, the game-plan, both sides of the ball. If Aaron can play he will play.”

Adelman went on to say Gordon will be listed as questionable, something that was reported by The Athletic on Friday night. An earlier ESPN report had painted a bleaker picture, but this sounds more promising.

With about 100 seconds left in Game 6, Chet Holmgren stripped Gordon of the ball, and the Nuggets player chased it alongside OKC’s Alex Caruso. The two mixed up, and Gordon kicked the ball and took an awkward step. He came up, grabbed his hamstring, and checked out of the game about 30 seconds later.

For what it’s worth, Aaron Gordon said postgame he felt “okay.” With another 40 hours since then, it sounds like the hamstring is responding well enough to treatment that there’s a possibility he suits up against the Thunder.

He’s been spectacular in these playoffs, and there’s no question the Nuggets will need him if they want to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
