The already shorthanded Nuggets will be down another player

While not as big of a deal as the Nuggets being without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. when the playoffs start, Denver learned on Wednesday that they’ll be down another player at the start of round one. The NBA announced that point guard Facu Campazzo would be suspended for Game 1 against the Warriors.

“Denver Nuggets guard Facundo Campazzo has been suspended one game without pay for forcefully shoving Los Angeles Lakers guard Wayne Ellington to the floor from behind,” the league said in a statement.

The shove, for which Campazzo was assessed a flagrant two and ejected, happened in the second quarter of the Nuggets season finale against the Lakers on Sunday. Denver lost in overtime 146-141 in what was otherwise a meaningless game.

Ellington didn’t come away unscathed. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard was penalized for making threats to Campazzo after the game on Twitter.

“Ellington has been fined $20,000 for escalating the incident with a threatening comment on social media postgame,” the league announced.
