Nuggets make agent’s whiteboard of potential LeBron James destinations

The Denver Nuggets have legitimate interest in signing LeBron James this offseason.

And the feeling is mutual.

Rich Paul, the founder of Klutch Sports and the best friend and agent of James, put the Nuggets on his whiteboard of potential destinations for arguably the greatest player in NBA history.

Paul and Max Kellerman dropped a new episode of their “Game Over” podcast in which cases are laid out for the Nuggets, 76ers, Heat, Timberwolves, Warriors, Cavaliers, Celtics, Spurs and Mavericks.

“Now, let’s get over here to the Mile High. Murray, Johnson, Gordon, Jokic. They got one big hurdle, they still got Peyton Watson as a restricted free agent, right? Kroenke family, we’re close to… he’s won in everything,” Paul says.

The Nuggets do want to lock up Watson this offseason and it’s likely a good sign we’ve reached July 3rd and he still hasn’t signed an offer sheet with another team.

Denver’s made two small free agent signings thus far. They’re probably waiting on a decision from LeBron James, like most of the league, but Paul confirms the Nuggets are very much in the mix.

“Let’s go back to Denver for a second. Is Denver actually a legitimate destination?” Kellerman asks Paul.

“It wouldn’t be on the board, Max,” Paul responds.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst first floated the idea of LeBron James to Denver on Wednesday. The Denver Post reported the Nuggets are pursuing him and the odds have shifted for him to ink a contract in the Mile High City.

This process is clearly going to get dragged out. It’s great marketing for James and his camp.

But don’t let anyone tell you the Nuggets aren’t involved. Paul himself just confirmed Denver has a shot at bringing in LeBron James.

It would be monumental if it happened, so stay tuned.
