Jamal Murray takes the blame for his poor play in Game 6 loss

Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray had an atrocious shooting night against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6.

It might have cost the Nuggets their season.

Murray finished 4-17 from the field for only 12 points. He was 0-2 on three-pointers including a missed three late that could’ve tied the game with under five minutes to go.

Ultimately, Denver lost 110-98 and their short playoff run came to a stunning close. The Nuggets are on summer vacation after the Wolves took the first-round series in six games.

And while fans are rightfully frustrated with Jamal Murray playing so poorly in an elimination game, at least he took the blame when he met with the media.

“It’s just on me,” Murray said. “When I get the looks I need they don’t go down, so that’s the frustrating part just not showing up when my team needed me most tonight.”

Jamal Murray has had some incredible moments in a Nuggets uniform, highlighted by being the Robin to Nikola Jokic’s Batman when Denver won its first and only NBA title in 2023.

But this season they had two playoff victories, coming up 14 short of their goal and another title. This wasn’t a loss deep in the postseason — it was in Round 1 against a very injured Wolves team.

“I felt like if I played a little better we would’ve had that game, so it’s just frustrating on my part. I’ll take accountability for it. It was a rough night and they move on.”

Minnesota indeed moves on to play San Antonio while the Nuggets go home with a ton of questions this offseason.

We’ll see what the future for Murray holds with the franchise, but for now, this is going to sting for months and months.

At least Jamal Murray owned his bad game at a really bad time.
