Fan-favorite Nuggets alternate jersey is coming back, per leak

It appears that the Denver Nuggets city edition uniform will look a lot like last year’s, just in white.

The team is dipping back to their second city uniform from 2018-19, a play on the famed 1980s rainbow skyline uniforms, for the 2026-27 season, according to NBA Uniform Tracker. It’ll be one of at least five jerseys the club will wear this coming year as they also add a classic jersey to celebrate their 60th year as a franchise. There is also talk that the NBA will bring back special uniforms for Christmas day, where the Nuggets are scheduled to close out the slate with a late-night game at Golden State.

Those two, possibly three, new looks will join the team’s dark blue, white and royal blue Mile High City jerseys as the uniform rotation for the coming season.

The highlight is likely the white rainbow skyline city edition look. It both calls back to the first 50-win season of the Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray era, when the team made their playoff debut under Michael Malone by beating the Spurs in the first round before falling to the Blazers in an epic seven-game series. Funny enough, Denver’s big offseason addition — six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan — was on that Spurs team in 2019.

But the jersey also harkens back to what was the golden age of Nuggets basketball before Joker and Jamal: the 1980s. When Alex English, Dan Issel, Fat Lever, Doug Moe and more pushed Denver to the postseason nine-straight years. Again, funny enough, the Nuggets can make the playoffs for a ninth-straight season this spring.

Fans will still rock the original in the stands, but only Jokic and Murray remain from that roster less than a decade ago that set the foundation for a group that would go on to win the 2023 title. And while not as popular as the 2019-20 version in black that was brought back last season, there’s a part of Nuggets nation that actually likes the white look a bit better because it’s both cleaner and is more true to its vintage inspiration — of course, with a modern twist. No word yet on if they’ll again swap out Nuggets with Denver on the front like they adjusted from 2020 to 2025 with the black alternate.
