You may have gone to Coors Field recently and joked, “Who even are these guys?” Well, it seems like the Colorado Rockies themselves do not know, as they’ve gotten the name wrong for their longest-tenured player in announcing the club’s roster for Spring Training.

Right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela, or better known by his new name, apparently, Anthony, is among the nearly 60 players who will begin the exhibition season with the big club. Pitchers and catchers report to Scottsdale next Thursday, with the rest of the Rockies joining on Feb. 17.

If you’re curious about “Anthony,” his name is still Antonio on MLB dot com and on his personal Instagram. Senzatela has been with the Rockies since signing out of Venezuela in 2011. He made his MLB debut in 2017, making him one of just two Rockies still on the club who were on the 2017 and 2018 playoff teams.

Along with the 40-man roster getting a crack at making the team for Opening Day are eight pitchers, 12 position players and 11 non-roster invites that had previously been with other organizations. Standouts include former Rockies first-round pick and top prospect with a big bat Charlie Condon, longtime MLB reliever John Brebbia, former Astros lefty Parker Mushinski and journeyman infielder Nicky Lopez.

The Rockies are coming off their worst season ever, and the names on this roster don’t inspire much confidence that they’ll improve by 20 wins and avoid a fourth-straight season of triple-digit losses. Last year, the Rockies finished with the worst run differential in MLB’s Modern Era (minus-424) and the worst starter ERA (6.65) since ERA became an official stat in 1913. Maybe if Anthony turns back the clock six years, the Rockies will boast at least one solid arm, if not — the club’s rotation might cause Kyle Freeland another year of frustration.
