Rockies trade reliever to Dodgers for pitching prospect and outfielder

The Colorado Rockies have traded relief pitcher Seth Halvorsen to National League West rival Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-handed pitching prospect Nick Frasso and outfielder Landyn Vidourek. The Rockies are expected to be sellers ahead of the trade deadline, and Halvorsen’s departure signals the start of what could be an active stretch for Colorado.

The return nets the Rockies two intriguing pieces.

Vidourek, the No. 25 ranked prospect in the Dodgers’ system, is a 22-year-old outfielder drafted in the third round of the 2025 draft. In 210 at-bats in the minors, he has tallied 37 hits, eight home runs and 28 RBIs while posting a .176 batting average, .340 OBP, and .683 OPS. While his hit tool is still developing, his power, speed, and arm grades make him a high-upside addition.

Frasso, a 27-year-old right-hander originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020, has recorded 40 strikeouts and one save in 24.2 innings pitched at triple-A this season, though he carries a 4.74 ERA.

The 26-year-old Halvorsen departs Colorado after three years, having logged a 4.31 ERA across 71 innings with 66 strikeouts and 71 hits allowed. He is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury and will report to triple-A Oklahoma City.

With the trade deadline two weeks away, the Rockies appear poised to make additional moves. This deal could open the floodgates for a team clearly focused on building for the future rather than competing now.
