Rockies finally get a home series win, pile 10 runs, 15 hits on Twins

ROCKIES BOTTOM LINE: It took 98 games and until after the All-Star break, but the Rockies finally gave their victory-starved fans a home series win in 2025.

One night after a quick start propelled the Rox to a 6-4 win, a 15-hit, three-homer deluge peppered the Minnesota Twins, powering Colorado to a 10-6 triumph that sealed the Rockies’ third series win of the season and the team’s first at Coors Field since taking two of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks last Sept. 16-18.

The Force was certainly with the Rox on “Star Wars” night as Ryan McMahon, Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman blasted home runs in the third, fifth and eighth innings.

McMahon’s homer was his second in as many nights since the All-Star break as he nudged his OPS back over .700 for the first time since July 2, a notable accomplishment as his numbers remain weighed down by the anvil of a .147/.273/.235 line he carried through April 30.

Tovar’s home run was his first since May 31, as he landed on the injured list shortly thereafter. He went 3-for-4 on Saturday and has a 1.375 OPS in his two starts since returning from the injured list Friday.

Every Rockies player in the starting lineup but first baseman Michael Toglia got a hit. Tovar, Goodman and Mickey Moniak each logged three-hit nights.

Colorado is 24-74.

ROCKIES STARTER’S REPORT

Run support was a gift for Antonio Senzatela, but he did a nice job of his own accord, turning in his most efficient performance of the season, a crisp 78-pitch, seven-inning effort that saw him allow just six hits and a walk.

Unfortunately, four of the hits came in a cluster, starting with three extra-base hits from Ryan Jeffers, Kody Clemens and Carlos Correa to open the second inning. Those put the Twins in front 2-0; a subsequent Matt Wallner single plated Correa to put Colorado in a 3-0 hole.

But Senzatela faced the minimum in the subsequent three innings, aided by a pair of 4-6-3 double plays as Tovar’s return seems to have picked up Colorado’s defense a scosh.

Senzatela improved to 4-13.

BITS AND PIECES

IT WAS DECIDED FOR THE ROCKIES WHEN: Goodman blasted his 18th home run of the season, a two-run shot into the right-field seats that brought home Moniak in the eighth inning and pushed Colorado’s lead to 10-5.
