McCartney, 83, is one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century and is most known for the work he did with The Beatles in the 1960s. He was the band’s co-lead singer, along with being a bassist and a songwriter for classics like “Hey Jude” and “Here Comes the Sun” as the group took the music world by storm.
All his success didn’t just come with The Beatles, as his departure from the band in April 1970 opened new avenues for him to make music individually and with his next band, Paul McCartney and Wings. Some of his best hits in “Band on the Run” and “Maybe I’m Amazed” came after the split as he began the next chapter of his career making music.
Fan of him or not, when McCartney steps foot in Coors Field in October, he’ll have more hits than all the players on the Rockies combined. He’ll also draw more attention to the stadium in the month of October than the team has since 2007.
This is the second concert on the calendar at Coors Field for the rest of the season, with R&B star Chris Brown set to take center stage at the best bar in Denver on September 24. 2024 saw four concerts come and go through one of America’s best ballparks with Billy Joel, Kane Brown, Journey and Def Leppard after there were none in 2023. It’s become a common them with these great artists/bands from the 20th century to perform at Coors Field in the latter stages of their career, rather than sports stadiums that traditionally hold more concerts such as Ball Arena and Empower Field at Mile High.
The event is just another in what will be a big weekend for Denver sports venues. Folsom Field will be hosting Colorado vs. Iowa State that same night, Empower Field will be hosting Broncos vs. Jets the next afternoon and there’s a decent chance that the Avalanche could be playing a game as the NHL season gets underway on Oct. 7.
Prices have not been released for the show, but fans interesting in registering for presale access can do so here. The presale begins on July 15 at 10:00 a.m. MDT, while the general public will have access starting on July 18. For Rockies Insiders, they will have access to their own presale starting on July 17.
