Rockies host 2007 World Series rematch, both teams far from there

The worst team in the National League hosts the worst team in the American League this week at Coors Field in a 2007 rematch of two organizations far from that high point.

The Boston Red Sox clinched their World Series win that year in Denver, finishing off a four-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies, who have won two playoff games since. The Red Sox have won two more championships since that ’07 night in October.

For the Rockies, winning the National League was no doubt the high point of their franchise’s history while the Red Sox kept rising, until recently when a trade of Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers started a downfall that’s reached a low-point this season. Now they’re last place in the AL East and pacing to have their worst season since 1965,

The Rockies have one less win and four more wins than the Red Sox, yet they’re having their best season in the last four years. The contrast of the two franchises speaks a lot to standard.

Anyway, those headed to 20th and Blake will see Ryan Feltner go against Jake Bennett on Monday night, Sean Sullivan duel Sonny Gray on Tuesday night with the finale seeing lefties Kyle Freeland and Ranger Suarez getting the ball for their clubs.

Both teams are likely more interested in show casing players they can trade over the next three days to the rest of the league rather than actually winning games. Rockies fans will get a rare look at the flashy Ceddanne Rafaela while Red Sox fans will get a chance to see star backstop Hunter Goodman.
