Veteran TE Nick Vannett the latest Broncos cap casualty

The Denver Broncos tight ends group has shrunk by another member, as the team has released Nick Vannett after one season, per 9News Insider Mike Klis.

The move comes on the heels of former Broncos fifth-round draft pick Jake Butt moving on from Denver. It leaves the team with Andrew Beck, Noah Fant, Austin Fort and Albert Okwuegbunam on the roster at the position.

Beck — who signed a two-year, $5.7 million deal with Denver last offseason — was set have a cap hit of $3.55 million in 2021. Though his $875,000 signing bonus will count as dead cap, the Broncos will save $2.678 million in salary cap space with the move.

Originally a third-round draft pick with the Seattle Seahawks in 2016, Vannett played in 15 games for Denver last season, including 11 starts. He caught 14 passes on 21 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown.
