Schlereth: ‘Not even a question’ he’d trade Von Miller for Derek Carr

By now, the suggestion that Denver should trade Von Miller shouldn’t surprise many in Broncos Country. But could it be worth it for the club to trade the All-Pro pass rusher within the division to secure an “elite-level” quarterback?

On Tuesday, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said if the scenario should arise that the Oakland Raiders would be willing to part with Derek Carr straight up for Von Miller, he would “absolutely” make that deal.

“If you’re giving me Derek Carr, you can have Von Miller. Not even a question,” Schlereth said.

Schlereth’s co-host Mike Evans, however, said it’d take some convincing to persuade him to move on from Miller, a former Super Bowl MVP.

“… If you’re going to say the rebuild is here or we have to get really, really desperate when it comes to trying to address the quarterback position, if I’m going to use Von as a chip, I’m just telling you I need to get more back than just Derek Carr,” Evans said.

Schlereth said it comes down to how many games Miller, a pass rusher, won for the Broncos himself over the past two seasons compared to how many Carr, a quarterback, could have won.

Evans said: “Derek Carr’s here the past two years and Von Miller’s not? The won 11 the past two years. (With Carr they win) 15, 16. They’re basically and 8-8 team.”

“Which is a hell of a lot better than you are right now,” Schlereth said.
