In what could be his final marquee event in a Colorado Rockies uniform, shortstop Trevor Story will participate in the MLB Home Run Derby at Coors Field next month.

Story made the announcement via Twitter and Instagram on Monday, saying, “Can’t wait to compete in the 2021 Home Run Derby. Denver, let’s gooo!!”

In 66 games this season, Story has just nine home runs, which is good enough for third on the Rockies roster behind C.J. Cron (10) and Ryan McMahon (16). The two-time All-Star has 143 career dingers.

Story joins Los Angeles Angels two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani and reigning Derby champion and New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso on the bill, which is set for July 12 at 20th and Blake. ESPN also reports that Baltimore Orioles slugger Trey Mancini will participate.
