The prospect of Nolan Arenado playing for a team other than the Rockies is hard enough to stomach. The All-Star third basemen donning a Dodgers uniform is downright painful.

But according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, that’s a very real possibility. The reporter outlined the reasons why it could happen in the clip below.

Arenado is from southern California and grew up a Dodgers fan, so it’s expected that he’d be willing to wave his no-trade clause for a deal that would send him to Los Angeles. And the defending World Series champions would be interested because Justin Turner is a free agent, creating an opening at third base.

If the Rockies trade Arenado, it’ll be an unpopular move. If they send him to a division rival, it’s a move from which they might never recover, losing the respect and faith of their fan base forever.
