Could Broncos WR DaeSean Hamilton be on trade block?

With a new front office regime and plenty of depth at wide receiver, the former fourth-round pick could be on his way out of Denver

With the NFL Draft fast approaching at the end of the month, the wheeling and dealing between general managers might see one Denver Broncos receiver leaving the Mile High City.

On NFL Now on Thursday, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo indicated the Broncos have received inquiries about wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton.

“This is a name that I will be watching as we get closer to the draft and, again, during the draft to see if Hamilton can get himself a fresh start elsewhere,” Garafolo said.

A fourth-round draft pick by the Broncos in 2018, Hamilton has pulled in 81 catches on 141 targets in his three seasons in orange and blue. He has five receiving touchdowns and an average of 10.3 yards per reception over the time as well.

However, Denver drafted not just one but two wide receivers in the first and second rounds of last year’s NFL Draft — Jerry Jeudy with the No. 15-overall pick and K.J. Hamler at No. 46 overall.

And with Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick also on the roster, the Broncos have plenty of depth to spare at the wide receiver position.

“We’re getting close to that second phase of the trade process, usually right around the start of the league year in March,” Garafolo said. “Then once you get close to the draft you see more trades — before and during the draft — and it’s usually with teams with a lot of depth at a position or a regime change.

“And the Broncos have both of them with George Paton now the general manager in Denver.”
