CU, CSU fans encouraged to plan ahead for Rocky Mountain Showdown

With the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown falling on the first day of Labor Day weekend, event coordinators are advising University of Colorado and Colorado State fans to plan ahead and pay attention to traffic and parking situations, per a release Wednesday.

Kickoff for the annual rivalry game is slated for 7:30 p.m. MDT, though lots for Broncos Stadium at Mile High will open at 3:30 p.m.

Cash spaces will be available in lots M and N south of Colfax for those without parking permits, though event organizers suggest all fans arriving later than 4:30 p.m. without a permit park at the Pepsi Center or Auraria Campus.

Tailgaters will be instructed to back up vehicles into spots along the perimeter of the parking lots so attendees may use adjacent landscaped areas to tailgate rather than spaces in which they do not have permits. Also of note, those parking at the Auraria campus will not be allowed to tailgate.\

Among the items prohibited for tailgates:

• Oversized tailgates that block drive lanes
• Box Trucks
• Glass Bottles
• Kegs
• Open-flame fires
• Blocking or saving of parking spaces.

Agents with the city of Denver will be enforcing parking regulations in the area surrounding the stadium, and those parked inappropriately will be cited and towed.

Premium gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and all other games at 6 p.m. CSU students will enter through Gate 5 and CU students through Gate 9.

All tailgating must conclude by 6:30 p.m.
