Big Al: Broncos must defend whole field, not fall behind vs. Ravens

The Denver Broncos have the difficult task of traveling across the country and playing an early East Coast game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, a team in which they’re 1-4 against on the road.

With that difficult task comes another in defending Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who Alfred “Big Al” Williams said on Wednesday can create problems because of his ability to “locate guys more than 15-20 yards down the field.”

“He’s one of the few guys where you have to defend the entire field. So, if you have to defend the entire field, which gives openings in underneath routes,” said “The Drive” co-host. “And he’s very good at that.”

Williams also cautioned the Broncos to not fall behind the Ravens because of their ability to run the ball, specifically with Alex Collins.

“They’re good enough to run the football. And this running back that they have is really good,” Williams said of Collins.

Williams compared Collins to a blend between Broncos rookies Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay, wherein he can move his feet great “but is not a small guy either.”

“Eventually, he’s going to have days where he’s going to have 100-plus yards. We just don’t want it to happen against the Broncos,” Williams said.
