For the second time this season the Colorado Avalanche will have a series of games postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests.

The NHL announced on Friday afternoon that the Avs next three games — two at home against the Los Angeles Kings and one on the road against the St. Louis Blues — have been postponed as a result of a third Colorado player entering the COVID-19 protocol.

Pending test results in the coming days, the Avalanche will be able to re-open their facilities for practice next Wednesday and return to action Thursday at St. Louis.

“The Avalanche organization has, and will continue to follow, all recommended guidelines aimed at protecting the health and safety of its players, staff and community at large as set by the NHL, local, state and national agencies,” the league said in a release.

The news comes just days after starting goaltender Philipp Grubauer entered the COVID-19 protocol following a positive test, joining defenseman Bo Byram, who tested positive earlier this month.

As of early Friday afternoon, there has been no indication on which Avs player is the latest to enter the protocol nor how long he’ll be away from the team.

Grubauer, head coach Jared Bednar said this week, will be out at least 14 days between games.
