Denver Summit FC to play first match at Empower Field at Mile High

A new professional sport is coming to the Mile High City soon, as the Denver Summit FC will take the pitch in Denver in 2026 as the newest team in the National Women’s Soccer League. The club has made plenty of monumental announcements in recent months, including its inaugural head coach, stadium news, first player, high-profile names in the ownership group and brand colors.

The club’s first ever match will be played at Empower Field at Mile High, the home of the Denver Broncos, on Saturday, March 28. Kickoff will be at 12:00 p.m. MT and the game will be televised on CBS.

“This will be an unforgettable moment for our club, our players, our city and our fans,” said Denver Summit FC President Jen Millet. “We’re honored to play our first home match and host “The Kickoff” in such an iconic stadium. We’re grateful to the community for the incredible support to help us reach this moment.”

No opponent has been announced for the contest yet, but even without one, it’s still confirmed that this will be the first opportunity for soccer fans in the Mile High city to see their newest team take the pitch. Given that the game is taking place at a historic stadium that’s easy to access and holds 76,125 spectators, this game has all the necessary elements to thrust this club into the spotlight and get the city engaged right away.

Denver Summit FC also has the full support of the Broncos in their quest to become one of the premier pro sports franchises in Denver.

The stadium has hosted nine notable soccer events this century including international friendlies, CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, CONCACAF Nations League Finals and the International Champions Cup in 2014. The most recent game, a friendly between Uruguay and Mexico last summer, saw nearly 58,000 fans at the stadium, the most ever for a soccer match in the venue.
