The Colorado Rockies are in the midst of one of the worst stretches in MLB history.
The Rockies have lost 100-plus games each of the last four years, including 104 in 2026, the second-worst season ever for the franchise.
While new the Colorado front office of Paul DePodesta and Josh Byrnes brought in some intriguing young talent at the plate and on defense, the Rockies pitching remains an absolute mess. The team surrendered 944 runs this past season — the most in baseball.
And with the Milwaukee Brewers winning the World Series on Wednesday night, it’s time to officially start thinking about next year. That is if there’s a season and a lockout is avoided.
But for the sake of the exercise, let’s pretend like the players are on the field in the spring, summer and fall. Don’t expect the Rockies to join the Brewers and earn their first championship ever.
One popular sportsbook released odds to win the 2027 World Series and Colorado is dead last at 300-1. The second longest odds belong to the Reds who are 150-1, so there’s a massive gap between the Rockies and everyone else.
The Dodgers are the favorites at 3.6-1, followed by the Brewers (6-1), Yankees (7-1), Rays (18-1) and Red Sox (18-1).
Even playing anywhere close to .500 baseball would be a win for the Rockies, let alone making the playoffs. A World Series could happen eventually, especially with the Penner Sports Group owning 40 percent of the team, but it feels a long ways down the road.
