Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts legend Peyton Manning likely won’t be the next GM in Indy.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter dropped that report over the weekend, saying Peyton Manning is “not expected to add Indianapolis Colts general manager to his list of titles and responsibilities, league sources told ESPN.”

Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon fired Chris Ballard after a tough start to the season for Indianapolis, but Manning isn’t going run the franchise from a personnel side of things.
“The Colts have not approached Manning about their vacant GM job nor would the Hall of Fame quarterback be expected to be interested in the position,” Schefter added.
It makes sense, as Peyton Manning has lived in Denver since retiring after the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. That was more than a decade ago at this point.
Plus, he successfully runs Omaha Productions, does the “ManningCast” during Monday Night Football and is seemingly a spokesman for every brand that advertises with the NFL. Manning has a lot of good things going — obligations he’d have to give up if he took on the day-to-day grind of being a GM.
And even though Manning won a Super Bowl with the Colts and played in Indy for 13 seasons, it seems like he has more of a connection now with the Broncos after only spending four years here.
Perhaps one day he takes a job in Denver’s front-office, but the Broncos seem to be happy with Damani Leech, George Paton and Sean Payton working under team owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton-Penner.
It’d be weird for Denver fans to see Manning accept an official job with another NFL team, so this is a welcomed report.
No one would like rooting against him and the Colts and Peyton Manning feels like a member of Broncos Country for life.
