Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix and the rest of the team found a way to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 23-17 on Sunday afternoon.

That doesn’t mean it was pretty — especially for the offense.

Denver’s defense earned the victory, forcing multiple turnovers down the stretch, putting the offense in great field position to squeak out the win.

Nix did hit Courtland Sutton for a fourth-quarter touchdown on a dart, but that was one of his few highlights on a day in which he only threw for 123 yards on 16 completions.

Postgame, Bo Nix was asked to assess his performance overall and was pretty blunt.

“I don’t think it was my best, for sure,” Nix said. “I just felt like we got to third-downs quickly again and definitely things there that we can clean up.”

Those third-downs bothered head coach Sean Payton, as Denver went only 1-12 in the contest in which Payton returned to offensive play-calling.

For Nix, he still wants to watch the film, but his first impressions weren’t great.

“Definitely the game and the feel and the results of drives told me that it wasn’t necessarily pretty. But we just found a way to win,” Bo Nix said.

And that win moves the Broncos to 3-2 on the season with the Seahawks coming to Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday night.

Seattle’s offense is potent, so it could need to be a shootout if Denver wants to win. That’s something Nix is already hinting at.

“At the end of the day we’ve got to score more points and that’s something we’re going to continue to work on,” Nix said.

And while Nix couldn’t put his finger on exactly what’s wrong with Denver’s offense, he did give an honest assessment that they’re not clicking.

“I think there’s just, right now just a little subtle piece that’s just overall, offensive execution that we’re still working towards,” Bo Nix said.

The good news is the Broncos now have a winning record. The bad news is the offense still looked stuck in the mud most of the game.

It’s an issue that needs to get fixed if this team wants to be considered a serious Super Bowl contender.
