Broncos see two players fined for dice-roll celebration

Once again, the NFL's fines found their way to the Broncos locker room -- but not in the manner of the previous two weeks.

Take sponsorship money from gambling companies? That’s fine and dandy for teams and the league by the NFL’s standard, evidenced by the blizzard of gambling advertisements that now plague its games.

But mimic a dice roll to celebrate a touchdown? As two starting Broncos learned, that will get you fined.

Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and right guard Quinn Meinerz found this out when they received notification from the NFL that they would each face a five-figure fine for their celebration of Waddle’s two-point conversion catch in the third quarter of last Sunday’s 30-26 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Meinerz and Waddle were each docked $14,926 by the league for unsportsmanlike conduct for “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts.”

Apparently, simulating a dice roll qualifies. Meinerz told KUSA-Ch. 9 that he and Waddle were “playing Yahtzee.”

Meinerz added that he would appeal the fine.
