Bo Nix explains the Broncos mindset in final minutes of another insane win

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix helped pull off a miraculous win.

Again.

In year three of Nix’s NFL career, this has become his identity. A slow start followed by a wild comeback, this time a 30-26 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.

Nix had a monster second half, throwing for two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions after the Broncos trailed 16-0 through two quarters.

But just when it looked like Denver would prevail after a Talanoa Hufanga pick-six, the Rams responded with a long touchdown to take a 26-23 lead.

Enter Bo Nix, who led another fourth quarter game-winning touchdown drive.

But this one was tricky, as after completions to Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin the Broncos had to think about burning the clock and making sure Los Angeles used most or all of its timeouts.

Nix explained to NBC’s Melissa Stark postgame what was going through his mind.

“We completed a few passes and we got down here close and we knew we had to have three points. And so it’s one of those moments where you don’t want to put the ball in harms way, but at the same time you want to score,” Nix said.

The QB knew at a bare minimum Denver had to tie the game, but they ultimately took the lead. It didn’t come without a little controversy.

“So we got the ball up to the end zone a few times and we were fortunate with a couple interference penalties and it got to the goal-line and we just punched it in,” Bo Nix said.

The Rams were called for defensive pass interference on a potential Nix interception and then illegal hands to the face. That allowed Nix to eventually convert a QB sneak and leave L.A. only 47 seconds on the clock.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford made it interesting, but Hufanga picked him off again, ending the game.

Stark asked Bo Nix about what was said at halftime after the brutal start.

“Nothing. We just kept to the game-plan and we came out in the third quarter and we got a quick touchdown and went for two and got it. And next thing you know it’s a one possession game. And our defense played really well in the second half,” Nix said.

It was a good team win for Denver, although it left Broncos Country feeling anxious for most of the night.

Still, Bo Nix got it done when it mattered most and took just enough time off the clock for Denver to hang on and improve to 2-1 on the season.
