Puka Nacua is ‘TBD’ when it comes to facing the Broncos on Sunday

The Denver Broncos could avoid seeing on the best wide receivers in the NFL on Sunday night, Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua.

Rams head coach Sean McVay met with the media on Tuesday morning and was non-committal about Nacua’s status heading into the Week 3 showdown, a potential Super Bowl preview.

Puka Nacua’s status is TBD for next Sunday in Denver, per Sean McVay. The Rams have the short week and road trip this time around.

They erred on the side of caution with a soft-tissue injury. A better approach with a star after learning a lesson with Myles Garrett in Melbourne.

Myles Garrett played in Week 1 for L.A. in Australia against the 49ers, but then had knee surgery and was put on injured reserve. He’s out at least three more game, so Garrett won’t be suiting up against the Broncos.

That’s good news for Denver, but now all eyes will shift to Puka Nacua the rest of the week. He had 1,715 receiving yards last season to go along with 10 touchdowns. He caught five passes in Week 1 for 74 yards before sitting out an easy Rams win over the Giants in Week 2 on Monday Night Football.

Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain II would obviously be up for the task of guarding Nacua, but that leaves Davante Adams to mostly square off against Riley Moss. The veteran Adams had eight catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns, torching New York in a monster game.

It’s not that Moss isn’t capable of covering Adams, he had a huge interception that swung Denver’s Week 2 game against the Jaguars with the Broncos rallying for a big win. It’s just that most of the fanbase would prefer if Nacua sat out Week 3 and Surtain could focus on Adams.

The first injury reports of the week are due out on Wednesday, so that will be telling. But it sounds like there’s a decent chance the Broncos won’t have to deal with Puka Nacua which would obviously be a huge advantage.
