CU Buffs hoopers schedule released for 26-27 slate

The Big 12 Conference announced the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball schedule on Thursday.

This gives the public a chance to now view the Buffs full slate as the non-conference portion of play had already been known. The season tips off on Nov. 2, hosting Abilene Christian then five days later they play one of the premier non-conference games. CU travels to SoCal to face San Deigo State in the Bill Walton Classic. They’ve also got a road date with Providence a neutral site game against Stanford, a road trip to Purdue and hosting of in-state foes Colorado State and Denver.

Conference begins on Jan. 2 at Oklahoma State. The Big 12 home opener comes three days later against Iowa State on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

It’s the second straight year that conference teams will play 18 games within the league, broken down into home-and-home series with three opponents and single games with the other 12: six home and six away. The Big 12 says that opponents were selected to achieve the best balance of the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.

Colorado will play a home-and-home series with Baylor, Utah, and Houston. Four of those matchups will come in the final seven games, including both against Utah, which will be played in a 14-day span that ends the regular season. The home-and-home series with Utah is the only one that repeats the Buffaloes’ Big 12 pairings from last season.

Six of Colorado’s nine home conference opponents advanced to postseason play in 2025-26. Along with Baylor, Houston and Iowa State, the Buffaloes host College Basketball Crown champion West Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 9, Texas Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and BYU on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

The Buffaloes road slate is a gauntlet, with single road contests at Arizona, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU and UCF.

All 10 of Colorado’s weekend games are scheduled for Saturdays, with six in Boulder. The Buffaloes’ eight mid-week games are split between five on Wednesdays and three on Tuesdays.
