Nuggets announce preseason schedule, including Boulder game

The Denver Nuggets are returning to Boulder for the first time in more than a decade, as they tip off their preseason slate on the Colorado Buffaloes’ home floor. The NBA squad announced their tune-up games for this fall on Tuesday.

That contest against the Utah Jazz on Oct. 4, is one of five exhibition matches for the Nuggets ahead of the 2026-27 season, which begins for real on Oct. 22.

The preseason continues with Denver returning the favor, by traveling to Salt Lake City on Oct. 6. Then the Nuggets will host one preseason game at Ball Arena — Sunday, Oct. 11, facing the Bulls. The Nuggets then travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and finish their preseason schedule against the Lakers on Friday, Oct. 16.

The game in Boulder is the highlight — and features one former Colorado Buffaloes player: KJ Simpson. The two-way contract player was a two-time All-Pac-12 performer in college and hit one of the biggest shots in program history as he led his team to two 2024 NCAA Tournament wins. Simpson joined the Nuggets last spring, playing just six games thus far for Denver.

This will be the fourth time the Nuggets have played on Russell “Sox” Walseth Court. The last time was in 2015 when Denver met the Bulls. Boulder hosted the Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers for preseason games in 2007 and 2014.

The school says that tickets for the Nuggets-Jazz preseason game at CU Events Center will go on sale to the general public on Thursday.
