Nuggets have a new name on Game 3 injury report worth watching

The Denver Nuggets have a new name on the injury report ahead of Game 3 with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Fan-favorite Aaron Gordon is listed as “probable” with left calf tightness. It’s the first time this series that Gordon has shown up on a pregame injury list.

Peyton Watson remains “out” with a right hamstring strain.

A probable designation means Gordon will almost certainly play in Game 3 on Thursday night, but this is still worth monitoring.

Gordon didn’t look great in Game 2, a frustrating Nuggets loss. In 37 minutes he finished with only eight points, on 3-9 shooting from the field. Gordon did grab seven rebounds and four assists, so he helped in other departments.

But during the regular season Gordon only played in 36 games as he battled two different hamstring issues and a calf problem. Now, a calf has him once again on the injury report as Denver plays its biggest games of the season.

And Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels mentioned Gordon as one of the “bad defenders” on the Nuggets in bulletin board material comments after Game 2. Nuggets head coach David Adelman clapped back at those comments on Wednesday with some dry humor.

In the meantime, the Nuggets need Gordon the next two months if they want any shot at another championship. Denver went 27-9 when he played in the regular season.

But forget a title, Denver also will rely heavily on Gordon to get past the Wolves and escape Round 1. We’ll have to officially watch his status the rest of this series and for the duration of the playoffs.
