The Denver Broncos hype train is real and ready to depart from Union Station when the NFL season kicks off this week. From fans to pundits to everyone else in between, so many people are high on the orange and blue as they enter the second year of the Bo Nix era after the franchise’s first playoff berth in nearly a decade.
While they still have a lot to prove on the field, as they struggled against the top teams on their schedule in 2024, the writing on the paper suggests that they’re due for an even better season this time around. A more experienced quarterback, a defense that is returning much of its production, and a re-tooled skill position group are just a few of the many reasons why so many people are high on the Broncos this season.
Among the 32 NFL fanbases, Broncos country is by far the most optimistic about their team. In a recent survey by The Athletic that polled a handful of self-identifying fans, 98.7% of Broncos fans felt optimistic about their team’s future this season. That was 0.4% more than the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who are set up well to possibly go back-to-back.
People said that “Nix is the fix” and that the team has done its job of putting the necessary weapons around the young quarterback and that it’s now on him to carry the team to the next level.
For the 1.3% who were said they’re pessimistic, it was because the hype “never pans out.”
For the rest of the division, 93% of Chiefs fans (No. 8 on the list), 72% of Chargers fans (No. 18) and 65% of Raiders fans (No. 21) said that they felt optimistic. The Indianapolis Colts were dead-last on the list, as just 7% of fans showed any signs of optimism.
That’s a pretty good sign for Broncos Country.
Sunday’s season-opener will be an immediate tell to see if the optimism and hype is warranted. The Broncos are favored by more than a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans and their rookie quarterback Cam Ward. If they come out and dominate, the hype is warranted. If not, it might be a sign that they need some more time to grow as a team.
