Broncos fans get relieving news for Week 2 matchup against the Colts
The Indianapolis Colts announced their starting quarterback for the 2025 season, and the decision should be a sigh of relief for Broncos fans that will see the Colts come to town in Week 2

The Denver Broncos don’t have the easiest schedule in the NFL by any means. A trip to both the nation’s capital and Philadelphia along with some home bouts against Green Bay, Cincinnati plus a trip to London with no extra rest isn’t the most favorable thing in the world, but also not the worst.
Don’t forget about the division home-and-home with the Chiefs, a matchup that is never a walk in the park when Kansas City plays their starters.
Every team in the NFL wants as many breaks as they can get as they try and navigate the grueling schedule every year. For the Broncos, they get to start at home against the Tennessee Titans and rookie quarterback Cam Ward, and news broke on Tuesday that they’ll catch another break in Week 2 when the Indianapolis Colts come to town.

Journeyman quarterback Daniel Jones was announced as the starter for the Colts. Jones beat out young prodigy Anthony Richardson for the job, and that outcome should be a sigh of relief for all Broncos fans.
Since the 2022 season, Jones’ career trajectory has been on a downwards path as he was not able to produce winning football on the field for the New York Giants before bouncing around the league. The one time he played against the Broncos was in 2021, a 27-13 victory for Denver in which he couldn’t get the ball moving down the field in key moments for the Giants. He’s only played in 16 games over the last two seasons and has thrown just 10 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Giants released him last year in just the second season of his rookie contract extension because he was playing at such a low level.
Richardson wasn’t exactly electric for the Colts either through his first two seasons, but he showed flashes of elite talent that could flip a game in an instant and keep defensive coordinators up at night. He has one of the strongest arms in the league and has an uncanny ability to escape the pocket when things break down. Jones does not have that. Anyone who has watched the former No. 6 overall pick play the last two seasons know exactly what he brings to the table, and it should be a feast for a Broncos defense that is projected to be at the top of the league.
When the NFL schedule was released, this was one that most chalked down as a Broncos win right away, and this quarterback announcement shouldn’t change anything.
