Coach Prime says the Colorado Buffaloes are going to ‘win differently’ in 2025

After two years of hectic wins and a one-dimensional offense, CU head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders said that the Buffs are going to win a lot differently in 2025

The 2025 college football season is going to look a lot different for Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes. With Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter no longer in Boulder, there are going to have to be some new faces who take the leadership reins this year for the black and gold this year.

Last year also featured a lot of passing touchdowns, not a lot of running and some very, very stressful finishes for Buffs Faithful. This year, head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders says that the Buffaloes are going to win a lot differently than they did in the past.

“The next phase is — I think we’re going to win differently, but we’re going to win,” Prime said at CU’s Fall Sports Media Day on Friday. “I don’t know if it’s gonna be the Hail Mary’s at the end of the game, but it’s going to be hell during the game because we want to be physical and run the heck out of the football. So, it’s going to be a little different but it’s going to be fun.”

The emphasis all throughout the press conference was on running the football. With transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter being a very different style of signal caller than Shedeur Sanders was, there will already be more of an incentive to run the football because the Buffs will have an extra blocker for each quarterback run play.

Throughout the Prime era, the 57-year-old head coach has had a different theme each year. The first season was all about instilling hope, the second was about meeting expectations, but Prime didn’t have an answer as to what he wants the theme of year three to be.

“I haven’t yet sat down and thought about that,” Prime said.

The health scare he fought through this summer has taken a whole lot of his time, and while he said that he’s feeling like himself again, there’s still plenty more stuff to think about.

Buffs fans should be happy. There is a clear urgency to run the football and win without having Hunter and Sanders in the back pocket to play hero ball.
