CU Buffs keep adding, now have the best transfer class in the country

Jan 9, 2023, 11:08 AM | Updated: 11:45 am

The University of Colorado is just short of having the most transfers in college football but they are now being rated the best.

247 Sports is ranking the Colorado Buffaloes’ crop of incoming transfers No. 1 in the nation. Florida State, LSU, Michigan and USC follow right behind the Buffs. Deion Sanders was hired earlier this winter and his plan of bringing Louis with him is paying off. The very successful athlete turned Coach Prime won a lot of games at the FCS level in recent years due to great recruiting.

That has followed to Boulder, where he is revamping a one-win team from a season ago. Only Arizona State’s 21 incoming transfers are more than CU’s, each the only two programs in America with more than 12 incoming transfers at this point. The Buffaloes transfer class is still headlined by Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.

Colorado climbed to No. 1 this weekend after picking up Arkansas safety Myles Slusher and Florida offensive lineman Yousef Mugharbil, each former four-star recruits.

Slusher started 15 games in three seasons for the Razorbacks, where he recorded 93 tackles, nine for a loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and five pass breakups. Originally from Broken Arrow High School in 2020, Slusher had many Power 5 offers and was committed to Oregon before ending up at Arkansas on signing day. Slusher was slated to go to  Louisville this winter but a visit to CU changed his mind.

Slusher has two more seasons of eligibility remaining and comes in with former Jackson State safety Cam’ron Silmon-Craig.

Meanwhile, Mugharbil did not play a down for the Gators and has three years of eligibility left. Injuries from a scooter accident kept him from getting on the field. Out of high school in North Carolina, he had offers from a ton of schools but chose Florida, where now CU tight ends coach Tim Brewster recruited him to the swamp.

The Buffs are now up to six offensive line transfers coming in this offseason. The group includes Missouri State’s Landon Bebee, Jackson State’s Tyler Brown, Kent State’s Savion Washington and junior college linemen Isaiah Jatta and Jack Wilty.

Neither Slusher nor Mugharbi have been officially announced as new players by CU yet but you can see every new Buffs transfer and commit once they become final here.
